After months of hard work, ShellsuitZombie and 55DSL bring you UNCONTAINED!

Taking over Studio55 at 55DSL Boxpark from May 31 till July 12 with an amazing line-up of young designers, illustrators and creatives forming the backbone of the events, giving them much needed exposure in the creative hub that is London’s Shoreditch.

Alongside star-studded big nights we will be celebrating the little guy, the young penniless (yet hugely talented) creative with no network and no place in London. We could have run this six weeks as an opportunity to celebrate big names in the creative industries. But we thought this was more interesting.

ShellsuitZombie will kick off the month of UNCONTAINED at 55DSL Boxpark with the launch of the third issue of their magazine – the biggest yet in both size and print run. The best thing is, this issue is free! As will be the beer.

Expect big tunes, lots of chat, maybe a party game or two and lots of sexy people.

If you haven’t heard the name Aled Lewis, you will definitely have seen his work. The cover star of issue 3 of Shellsuit Zombie is most famous for taking pictures of his extensive toy collection and adding hilarious captions, though he his videogames vs real life series has also been featured in the New York Times and many others. He has a huge viral following and you can buy his work on greetings cards across the UK.

Aled will be taking over the first day of Uncontained, Monday June 4, bringing his particular brand of humour to the box and allowing you guys to help him out with his next masterpiece.

Tea and Crayons is an illustration collective started by six like-minded female illustrators from across the country.

The girls will be drawing on the walls, holding tea parties and running illustration workshops for up and coming illustrators. If you want to make it in the world of illustration, get this in your diary.

Lauren is a freelance illustrator who loves cats, colour and The Beatles. Not necessarily in that order. Heather is an designer/thinker who loves biros, Alan Fletcher and censorship. In that order.

Lauren and Heather will create a flock of suspended colourful origami cranes, containing images and messages of positivity, happiness and general niceness, producing a vibrant backlash against the social, political and economical negativity of 2012. They invite you to make your own birds or simply leave a message or drawing for them to turn into a bird. Join in by submitting your happy thoughts, tweets and well-wishes.

To meet Lee Denny, you wouldn’t have guessed that this unassuming guy built a festival from scratch in his back garden. Seven years ago Lee had 150 mates round to his parents house in Bromley where they listened to local bands on a makeshift stage by the shed. Today Leefest attracts thousands and has won awards – and 2012 will see the Mystery Jets and Ghostpoet gracing the main stage.

Lee is bringing a bunch of his performers to Boxpark on Thursday June 7. Who knows, Some may even be playing the roof of the store…

We push more and more buttons everyday.  We can’t stop ourselves from opening Facebook, Twitter, email and click on everything. Pressing buttons is an addiction. It’s instinctual. Just like the feeling of pressing bubble wrap. No one can resist it. Michela and Aurora take this concept to the extreme, imagining a quotidian scene completely covered in buttons: from the walls to the popcorn. On Tuesday June 11, for one day only, visitors are invited to step in and resist the temptation.

The presenters will be going out live to the internet as well as showing existing features. And hell, it sounds like they need extras!

Wednesday 13th of June will see Matt Box taking over the box to create one of his signature watercolour animations. Having garnered literally hundreds of thousands of views for his work so far, this man is going from strength to strength. So take a stroll down to the box and become a part of his next brilliant piece of work.

Incidental brings its new ipad app ‘The Feed’ to the box on Thursday June 14, allowing people to sample the sounds around them – burgers
frying in the restaurant upstairs, the sound of Shoreditch high street and anything else you can imagine.
